A Mini Adventure

Never quit! Moving from 2 wheels to 4...

Having broken my neck during my attempt at racing a motorcycle to Dakar, I've been told that the risks of serious injury or worse are just too high for me to continue racing bikes. This felt like I'd been beaten.

My family has a some history racing through the forests on four wheels. My wife's late father was Nigel Harris, co-driver to Malcolm Wilson in the infamous Group B Metro 6R4.

Refusing to give up I came across the Mini Rally Championships. A series for older BMW minis where the rules are designed to keep things equal.

Still struggling a little physically I set about building my own car. I have always found that a sense of direction and purpose really help me when the dark clouds roll in.

Over the course of a year the car was transformed from a 125 000 mile old road car into a competition ready rally car.

Steve Harris an International level co-driver, and my wife's uncle, bravely offered to get into the left hand seat!

Whilst I have always had a passion for motorsport this project has been about finding a way back and adapting to new circumstances.

The Mini Rally challenge will see us competing on closed tarmac road and on gravel through forests both day and night!

Resilience, team work and communication are everything!
